Junior Strings
Junior Strings is an open ensemble in which students with at least one year of playing experience are welcome to participate. Student musicians still register and submit an audition video to provide a sample of their playing for the conductor, Mrs. Victoria Zokoe. Please note: Junior Strings is a winter-only ensemble. Rehearsals for the 2026-2027 season begin November 30th, 2026.
Concert Strings
This ensemble is an exciting option for intermediate strings students. This group is perfect for students who are ready for more than Junior Strings yet continuing to progress toward HSYO. Mr. Kyle Nester conducts this group and will focus on developing advanced skills such as three-octave scales, developing vibrato, and more advanced ensemble playing. Concert Strings requires an audition video which is also used for chair placement. Please see requirements below. Rehearsals begin September 14th.
Holland Symphony Youth Orchestra (HSYO)
Holland Symphony Youth Orchestra is an upper-level, auditioned ensemble for experienced student musicians. HSYO is a rewarding experience that builds upon and enriches the work students do in their local school orchestras, providing an exciting and pre-professional orchestra experience. Mr. Scott Vanden Berg conducts this ensemble. We welcome student musicians from the entire lakeshore area and beyond! HSYO’s auditions are also utilized for chair placement; please see requirements below. Rehearsals begin September 14th.
